1775 Club

Philadelphia, PA

To be totally honest, The Tun will not be open on 10 November 2025. Dispite all the efforts, the matter of fact is The Tun Legacy Foundation does not have the necessary funds/ support from Marines as hoped. Yes it is disappointing, however it does not mean progress has not been. One of the means by shich The Foundation is hoping to raise additional funds is kicking off the "1775 Club."  So if you want to see The Tun rebuilt? Or do you want to make a toast to the Corps in The Tun®? Learn more about The Club and how to join, click here. Then join the 1775 Club and be part of making that happen in Philadelphia. Membership is only $17.75 per month for one year – or make a one-time donation of $213 – and you are a lifetime member.

Now, here is the most up-todate information on the build:

  • Historical Hurdles Cleared: We successfully navigated the historical survey, secured local ordinance approval after three hearings, and received the official approval of the Philadelphia Historical Commission just two weeks ago.

  • "Unofficial" HQMC Endorsement: Our website is now featured on the official Marine Corps 250 webpage under Philadelphia 250

  • Distinguished Board of Directors: We are honored to welcome General Peter Pace to our Board of Directors

  • Formed an Esteemed Advisory Group: We've had the following agree to become a member:

    • Lt. Gen. Charles G. Chiarotti, USMC (Ret.)

    • Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston, USMC (Ret.)

    • Sgt. Maj. Angela M. Maness, USMC (Ret.)

    • Lt. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson, USMC (Ret.)

    • Sgt. Maj. Harold Gene Overstreet, USMC (Ret.)

    • Lt. Gen. John "Jocko" A. Toolan, Jr., USMC (Ret.)

    • Lt. Gen. Richard C. Zilmer USMC (Ret.)

  • Successful Groundbreaking: Our ceremonial groundbreaking on November 10, 2024, was a resounding success, with over 3,500 people in attendance! GROUNDBREAKING

  • Financially Sound: We are currently operating with zero debt with funds in the bank.

  • Land Purchased: We now own the land where the new Tun Tavern will rise!

  • Architectural Plans Approved: Our detailed plans have been finalized and given the green light by the city: PLANS

We are now in the home stretch, with only two remaining items standing between us and the commencement of construction:

  • Building Permit: We anticipate receiving this within the next two weeks.

  • Building Loan: This is where I humbly ask for your support.

Joining the "1775 Club" entails a contribution of just $17.75 per month for 12 months, or a one-time payment of $213.00. This is the extent of the financial support I am requesting. To learn more about the "1775 Club" and its benefits, please click here: To become a member and directly contribute to rebuilding our Tun Tavern, please click here
