Corporate Sponsorship Program

INTRODUCTION

The Marine Corps Reserve Association (MCRA), formerly the Marine Corps Reserve Officers' Association (MCROA), was originally formed in 1926 to carry on the objectives of fostering the advancement of the professional and technical skills of Reservists; to promote the interest of the Reservists in the United States Marine Corps and the interest of the United States Marine Corps in its Reserve; to represent and assist individual members; and at all times to promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps in the broadest and most liberal manner to the end that it may best advance the welfare of and serve to preserve the security of the United States.

While the association is endorsed by the Commandant of the Marine Corps and recognized as a spokesman on Capitol Hill, it is completely independent of and not responsible to Headquarters Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy, or the Department of Defense.

The greatest benefit that MCRA offers to the Marine Corps is that Reserves are protected by Title X, USC and can lobby Congress on behalf of the Corps. This protection has been used successfully to the benefit of the membership.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

Legislative Committee Briefings
The MCRA Legislative Committee hosts an event annually in late February or early March which gives our corporate members a unique insight into the Marine Corps' Capitol Hill strategy. The Legislative Committee invites the Legislative Assistant to the Commandant to outline the Marine Corps' priorities and agenda for Congress. As the year progresses, the Legislative Committee working with The Military Coalition outlines the progress of the Congressional budget cycle for the year. This allows our sponsors a unique insight into the flow of Marine Corps programs.

Annual National Conference
MCRA holds a National Conference which provides the membership an opportunity to gather for Professional Military Education and conduct association business. The conference offers Corporate Members an opportunity to interact with military leaders and other military defense industry leaders about plans, policies, and operations that will affect the Corps in the future. The conference also affords the Corporate Member the opportunity to display company information at a national event.

Congressional Reception
MCRA holds a congressional reception annually to present the Frank Tejeda Leadership Award to a member of Congress who has supported the Total Force Marine Corps and National Security. This event is held on Capitol Hill and attended by Members of Congress and their staffs, General Officers, and defense industry representatives. The Commandant of the Marine Corps has personally presented the award in past years . This event also affords the Corporate Sponsor the opportunity to be recognized for their contribution to National Security.

Golf Tournament
The Annual Golf Tournament is an opportunity for the members to relax while enjoying a day of fun competition. In the past, MCRA has brought together Members of Congress, congressional staffers, senior-level DOD executives, Marine Corps General Officers, and defense industry representatives. MCRA takes great care to pair personnel of like interest so that the day can be beneficial as well as enjoyable.
